To make a flourishing career in yoga you want to get the best training. Like many yoga enthusiasts, you too may want to travel to India to learn yoga.India is the place of origin of yoga and the country carriesthe old tradition and ethos even today, something difficult to follow in the west. If you are coming to India to take up a yoga course, there are things you need to do before you actually land in your yoga school.

1. Learn about the country

India is land of charm, mystic and spirituality. Rich in diverse and vibrant culture, India has lot to offer to people willing to explore and appreciate the differences between this culture and their own. The reality,however, remains unchanged - that the culture in India is absolutely different than the culture in the West. 2. Learn about the location of the yoga retreat

You may plan to go for yoga teacher training in Dharamshala or any other popular destination in India - as it has yoga schools spread all across the country - you need to know about the place you are travelling to. From its location on the map, to the kind of people who live, the culture, food, and even other activities to take up there. Many students for example, choose to take yoga teacher training in Goa as they prefer beaches and tropical weather.

3. Pick up some language cues for basic communication

While most yoga teachers training courses disseminate the knowledge in English but it is good to learn some important communication phrases in the local language.Phrases for asking for directions, restaurants, hotels, water in the local language can come in handy during your stay at the place.

4.    Get to know the basic etiquettes in the local culture

RYT 200 is considered the basic course for yoga teachers training and spans for a minimum of a month which means that you will be staying in the place for at least a month; and it is advisable to learn basic customs of the local culture so that you don’t offend your hosts.

5.    Plan for learning time and not a holiday

Remember, that yoga instructor courses are a serious affair and not a holiday. Plan on spending more time on learning yoga and not on sightseeing. If you do want to indulge yourself in a true holiday, plan on taking a longer vacation from work.
